How to play (Game Rules)

Number of Players: 2 - 4
Type of Dominoes Used: Double 6
Type of Game: Blocking Game

Rules for 4 players (two teams of two):

  • No time limits.

  • Each team can name their teams, the defaults is Us vs. Them. Us is assigned to the team of the host of the game and the playmate.

  • Starting and playing the game/rounds:

    • All dominoes are shuffled face down before each round. The purpose of mixing them so the selection of the dominos is random.

    • All players at the same time select 7 dominos each.

    • Each player can only see their own dominoes.

    • As a domino is placed or laid out it becomes visible to all players.

    • The first round of the game starts with whoever has the double six. Note: That's only carried out on the first round. The winning player of the initial round and winners of subsequent rounds, start the new round with any domino they have drawn.

    • The game continues/moves counter-clockwise meaning that the player to the right goes next.

    • Each player tries to match the number of dots, also known as pips, on one open ends of a of most resent placed dominoes. Note: The domino layout always has 2 open ends. When playing you must place it on one of the long ends of the dominoes, never in the middle of the layout, only the long ends matching numbers. i.e. a 3 must be played to a 3, a 5 to a 5, and so on.

    • If a next player is unable to match a domino from his drawn dominoes in the layout, the player passes his turn to the player on his left. Each player may play only one tile per turn unless they are the only one with matching pips.

  • Ending a Round

    • The round is completed when a player gets rid of your seven dominoes wining the round.

    • If none of the players can make a play, the game ends in locked or a draw.

  • Scoring:

    • At the end of every round all un-played dominoes pips are tallied by a scorekeeper and awarded to the team of the player that got rid of all seven dominoes (1 point per pip). Note: The scorekeeper is selected from among the players, in the app El Dominito is the scorekeeper.

    • If a game ends in a locked/draw, all the players turn the tiles in their hands faceup, count the pips on each tile, and add them together. The team with the lowest total wins the game and earns the points of all the tiles left remaining in his opponents' hands. NOTE: The player that locked (created the draw) can start the next round if they won the draw if not then the person to the left will start the round.

  • End of the Game:

    • The team who first reaches 200 points or more is the winning team

    • If a losing team did not obtain any points, it is considered a CHIVA.
